Beginners Start Here

This website is for all those gardeners who are passionate about growing tomatoes and also for those who are complete beginners.

There are many ways to achieve successful results, some of which fly in the face of traditional thinking on a subject, but that just makes growing tomatoes even more interesting!

For the beginner, a few basic tips may be very useful and below I have suggested the most important things to do when growing tomatoes.

  1. Always use new soil/compost for seeds and plants.
  2. Make sure that all pots and equipment is very clean.
  3. After seeds germinate, keep plants in as light a position as possible.
  4. Use pots for young plants and increase size as plants grow.
  5. Don’t feed tomato food until plants start to grow fruit.
  6. Don’t over-water your plants or stand them in trays of water for long periods of time.

If you follow the above suggestions there is a very good chance of success!

Don’t forget to clean your equipment for next season and use new soil/compost.

Propogater

Using a new plastic propagator each season is a good way to get your seedlings off to a good start.
